'When you're first cut, you don't feel anything. Your body's in shock. After a while, the pain sets in, suddenly, quickly, harshly. It might be excruciating, agonising at first. But with time the wound heals. The hurt slowly dissipates. And now you're left with a scar. A memory of a time a gone by. A reminder of the pain. A reminder of the fact you overcame that pain. And that with time, things get better.'

Slip. Slide. The cars skid on the icy roads. Crinkle, crunch, of the the frozen grass underfoot. The chilly air wraps itself around your lungs like a boa constrictor. Sleet whips your face and stings your eyes. The crackle of grit as it slaps your windscreen, while you drive behind the morning anti-slip brigade. Fingers and toes slowly disappear. As you battle on against the notorious tyrant, Jack Frost. He has you in a death grip, but you struggle out  and skate your way into the heat. The coffee shop invites you into a warm, cinnamon-scented embrace and as you take that first sip, Old Jack lets go and leaves - to find another victim.
