I can honestly say I miss you more than anything I've ever lost.
I feel like someone has put my heart through a bandsaw.
You were…are, my best friend and always will be.
And even though you were weak in your final hours, we still managed to hold on to each other until you had to leave.
And as I held you and gazed into your eyes, I saw a solitary tear gently roll down your cheek.
But the smile on your face told me all I needed to know. You were happy.
Although I still feel the pain of that day every waking minute, I realize that you never left.
Not really.
You're still with me every step I take.
And always will be.
